Valentine's Party

Well, he did it. He finally asked to buy his girl a gift for Valentine's Day!! WHAT?!! This was the 1st official gift exchanging with someone of the opposite sex that we have took part in. I have never asked him if he wanted to get his "girlfriend" anything, a little young I thought to start all this stuff. He has liked Mack since K and they "broke up" this year and now he has moved to another sweet little Makenzie. And he does call one Mack and one Mackenzie so he's never confused which one he's talking about!:) Anyway, we dropped Houston off at Karate. Nana had come along to watch Houston's new stuff he's been learning. Which worked out great. I could grab my list and have everything bought and loaded in the car by the time the last "KIA" was shouted.

Valentine's cards, check. Last of the goody bag favors, check. Snuggle, check. Bread, Milk and Eggs, since it would be snowing, check. "Momma how 'bout we stop by here and see if I can find Makenzie a Valentine's gift." Gasp, "What buddy?" "Let's look in here and see if I can find Makenzie something."(Pointing to the jewelry cabinet) OK. So we looked and he found something he liked and we got it, wrapped it up and he gave it to her today. Oh, Lord this is really happening too fast! But the little heart necklace was ever so lovely and her smile was even the lovelier! And that's what this holiday is all about, right, feelin' the love? Can't believe it, just can't believe it. But it's happening. He is turning into a little man. It was just so sweet, how much thought and time he put into picking it out. Some of the stuff, he picked out was well let us say, a little extravagant for an 8 year old little girl. Like the stuff you would wear in a pageant. All the bling and dangle and rhinestones you could imagine. However, the little necklace he got was actually the first thing he picked out. I FORGOT TO GET A PICTURE OF IT!!! I actually forgot my camera and Christy had to shoot a few for me at the party.

The party was originally scheduled for 1:40 PM. I received a call from the school 10:15ish letting me know the party had been moved up to 11:30 and my desserts needed 3 hours to chill! Took them as chilled as they could get and the kiddos gobbled 'em up anyway. Valentine's candy and cards were exchanged, all the little girls gawked over the new shiny heart necklace, the boys played with their 3D Dinosaur cards and I just sat and watched him growing up right before my very eyes. I Love these boys so much. I can't imagine anybody loving them more. But if time lasts, I know one day a sweet, little, Christian girl(that's what I'm praying for!) will sweep him off his feet and Momma will have to take 2nd place and that's ok. And who knows, it could possibly be this sweet little girl that he bought his 1st necklace for........Only God knows.
