UPWARD UPDATE

I have not posted about the last 2 Upward Basketball games but all is well. The boys are having so much fun and are improving their skills every week. It is amazing to watch them progress at the rate they do. Adam and Josh continue to do a great job coaching. I do have pics and will hopefully post when I get a little more time. They have been pretty blurry lately but maybe I can doctor them. Levi is doing so good, I'm so proud of him!! He loves the game, unlike I did, and looks just like a mini Josh out there. He is the "poink guard" as Houston says and counts down the days until the next game. As most of you will remember, Josh has such a competitive spirit. He has contained himself well, however, a little pacing did take place last week. Since they don't keep score on the scoreboard, our little Tigers always want to know "who won?" That's when I try the "as long as we all tried our best we are all winners" speech. I can tell Levi has just about had enough of that.

ROLL TIDE!

I had a doctor's appt. today. Houston and I headed to the doctor after we dropped Levi off for school. They called me back so Houston and I headed back with the nurse. The nurse asked the usual questions, I answered, then the conversation turned to Houston.
Nurse: How are you today? What's your name?
H: Fine, I'm Houston Edwards Cannon.
Nurse: How old are you?
H: I'm "free".
Nurse: You are so cute, what a big three year old you are.
H: Thanks, honeybun.
Nurse: What are you going to do today?
H: I'm gonna play football.
Nurse: Well you know it's suppose to rain today.
H: I mean when it's dry.
Nurse: Who's your favorite team?
H: ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE!
Nurse: Uh, Oh! I like Auburn.
H: OOH, Auburn poops in there pants! They stink!
(Thanks Josh)
The nurse thought it was hilarious. I was at a loss for words.

HAIL or HELL

The boys were around when the weather was on tonight and asked about rain, sleet and snow. We talked about the differences as best we could. However, it reminded me about last week when we had bad weather. This was a cute funny so I thought I would share it. We had just laid down for bed. I always lay down w/ the boys to go to sleep and it started to hail. The boys wanted to know what that was "banging on the window." I said, "It's o.k., it's just hail." They both came unglued. They both got so upset and jumped out of the bed. "That's hell, the devil's coming to our house!" They were screaming and crying. I tried to calm them down and explain that the noise was hail from the clouds not hell from under the ground. They thought the devil himself had come to get us. They really were scared and I felt so sorry for them. Once we got everybody calmed down and made them realize we were safe, Josh and I thought it was so funny.

100th Day of Kindergarten!

Today was the 100th Day of Kindergarten!WOW! Where has the year gone? I volunteer often at school and we had a great day! The kids made 100 day badges, played counting games, read books and sang some cute songs. Only 80 days of school left! Levi has Mrs.Clements and what a precious person she STILL is!(26 years of teaching)As I have mentioned in other posts, Levi and Isaac are attached at the hip, no different today. They really had a fun day. Levi's homework assignment was to choose an item and count to 100 w/them. We chose cards. Houston is also learning to count to 100 by 1,5,&10's, although he skips a few. He thinks he's as big as Levi.

RED BELBET CAKE, PLEASE!!

Houston and I baked a couple of "Red Belbet Cakes" and he really enjoys helping me out. He is such a joy and is always right under my feet. He really enjoys helping me out in the kitchen and always wants to know if what we are cooking is for us or for somebody at church. I mean what Baptist does anything without food? He really wanted to try the buttermilk as we put in the mix but I finally talked him out of it. "That milk stinks, can I try some of it?" What kind of statement is that? He's such a mess and always melts my heart. "Mommy, you make the bests red belbet cake in the world." Priceless.

TOOTH FAIRY VISITS, AGAIN!

Levi lost his 2nd tooth on Sat. evening. We had gone to church to meet everyone, because we were taking the youth bowling and to eat pizza afterwards. The tooth was so loose so I got Josh some tissue to try to pull it. Levi said "Dad just give ME the tissue, I'm gonna try to pull this one myself." And he was successful!! Pulled it himself, no crying, a little blood and he was ready to go bowling. He is so funny and such a blessing!! However, Sunday AM he comes in our room and wakes me up. "Mommy, the tooth fairy forgot to come last night, see here's my tooth and there is no money under my pillow." I told him, "I'm sure she didn't forget, I bet your money got lost in the covers. Let's go look for it." So, off to his room we went. "Levi, why don't YOU look under the bed and be sure it didn't fall under the bed when YOU tossed and turned last night, and I'll look under the covers." Amazingly, Mommy found the $ while he was searching under the bed, pretty good, huh? The tooth fairy never forgets to stop by, does she?

TIGERS VS. WILDCATS

We played our 2nd basketball game Saturday and the boys had a ball! They all did great and at times it was hilarious! We played the Wildcats which Cheli(Williams)Jacobs and Jill(Collins)Walker coach. Cheli was unable to be there due to Nathan having his heart cath. this week(ya'll are in our prayers) so Jill had the coaching duties to herself. All the kids really had fun but Levi and Isaac always somehow throw a little football action into WHATEVER they are playing. I believe they stayed on the floor half the game. They love hustling after the ball and try their best to always end up with it. I told them shoulder pads may be needed for next game. Houston has enjoyed the games also because he has a chance to play with Isaiah and Noah, some of his "bests, bests friends!" Thanks KK for surprising Levi!! Also, thanks to MawMaw and Nana for always being there. Next Sat., same place, same time!
LET'S GO TIGERS, LET'S GO!!

PLAYER INJURED, EVERYBODY TO THE RESCUE!

YOU THINK HE LIKES IT?!

GOOD GAME EVERYBODY!!

TOOTH FAIRY

Levi has lost his 1st tooth!! Tonight, we pulled the 1st tooth he grew at 4 months old. Yes, both of my boys teethed early. So, we told him it might hurt just a little and he just wanted to be sure it didn't hurt like a shot. He didn't even realize Josh had pulled it. Thank You LORD!! He then started the tooth fairy questions. "Will she be spooky? I might wake up and scare HER!" "Will I hear her or feel her under my pillow? Then the big question, "Will she bring me a $100 bill?!" Son, you are SO precious but I don't believe the tooth fairy carries any big bills. In the excitement of all the firsts we are experiencing with Levi lately, Houston usually sits back and giggles. No different this time, except for, "OOH,THAT'S GROSS!!"

GO TIGERS, GO!!

Today, Levi played his 1st Upward Basketball Game. They did GREAT!! The league is CHRIST centered and all about learning about JESUS and having fun(they don't even keep score). Of course, the competitive spirit comes out in little 5-6 year old boys, but they had a blast. Nana(Kathy), MawMaw(Sheila), Houston and I cheered on the side lines and loved every minute of it. Levi has his best friend, Isaac Darty(Adam&Christy Darty),on his team so they are so excited. Josh and Adam are coaching and doing a wonderful job. Today was the first of eight games, every Sat.@9:00 AM. Levi said his blessing over his breakfast this AM and closed with this, And LORD please let both teams just tie so we can all win, cause we don't like to be losers. What if we all preferred our brother or sister to be winners, what a great world this could be.

WHAT A GOOD LOOKIN' TEAM!!

We even have our own CHEERLEADERS!

"By the way, are they checkin' us out?!"

DEFENSE TIGERS, DEFENSE!!

GOOD GAME BUDDY, WE DID IT!!

BREAK IT DOWN: 1, 2, 3 JESUS!!

Just Hangin' Out!!
