Well you know in the South, we're known for our Sunday Campmeetings, but tonight, we had a little Sunday Campfire. We had Homecoming at church today, so we didn't have PM service. We had a great day of fellowship, eating and singing and what better way to top it off than to fellowship and eat some more! The kiddos played outside all afternoon and as you can tell in the pics, enjoyed every minute of it. They were dirty from head to toe and stunk like little sweaty, smoky munchkins', but what some memories, huh? They came running in the house, or the older ones sent Houston in the house, after matches. Of course being the Mom that I am, "What in the world do you want matches for son?!" "We're making a campfire! We gonna cook wienies and marshmallows!" Houston informs. "Well first off, you DO NOT play with matches and second we don't have any wienies or marshmallows." "But Momma, can't you pleassssse go get some?" So Aunt Kelly volunteered to run to the Pig and the screams could be heard for miles around, I'm sure. They were just so cute. They had really made a little campfire, complete with all the sticks it would take to burn down in literally 5 mins. and rocks all around the edges of the sticks to keep the massive blaze contained. It was so cute! So Aunt Kelly arrives back with wieners but no marshmallows. How in this world can the Pig, the $ Store and Richie's all be out of marshmallows, but they were. A little disappointed, but they made do with just hot dogs. The boys ate 3 a piece. Why is it everything always taste better when it has to do with outdoors, dirt and fire? I don't know, but they ate them dirt, ashes and all.
I just love being with my family and what a great way to kick off a new week, refreshed and feeling loved!! No matter what may come our way, the love of our Saviour during "Campmeeting Days" or the love of our family on "Campfire nights", they will help us through anything life may throw our way!
